The Lakewood Public Library is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees. Library Trustees are appointed to four-year terms by the Lakewood City Schools Board of Education. Library Trustees are members of the Lakewood community and are not compensated for their service to the Library.
Board Member Vacancies
The Lakewood Board of Education is accepting applications for appointment to the Lakewood Public Library Board of Trustees.
Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest detailing experience, qualifications, and community involvement, volunteering and board experience to the Superintendent of Lakewood City Schools, 13701 Lake Avenue, Lakewood, OH 44107. All letters of interest must be received by the Superintendent on or before May 15, 2026.

Board Meetings
Library Board meetings are open to the public. Notice of changes in the date, time or location of a meeting is posted on the community bulletin boards or, in the event of building closures, on the front doors of both the Main Library and the Madison Branch.
A member of the public wishing to attend a Board meeting in-person need not pre-register, but shall sign the attendance roster at the meeting and identify his name and address.
Prior to a Board meeting, a member of the public may request copies, print or digital, of the exhibits to be reviewed by the Board.
Provisional agenda, which are subject to change, of each meeting are generally available forty-eight hours prior to the meeting. Revised agenda are available as soon as is reasonably practicable.
A member of the public wishing to offer comments shall, after being recognized by the President, state his name, address and the subject of his comments, and limit such comments to five minutes.
