Out of the Past (1947)

An ex-gangster (Robert Mitchum) has finally found happiness in rural California, running a service station and going on blissful picnics with his small-town sweetheart (Virginia Huston). But it’s not long before the movie’s plot catches up with its title and shadowy characters from his past begin to appear, including mob boss Kirk Douglas and femme fatale Jane Greer.
