Empire Builders: An Illustrated History of the Rise and Fall of Cleveland’s Van Sweringen Brothers

Despite being born into poverty, the Van Sweringen brothers amassed a vast fortune in real estate and railroad developments. They established the affluent garden suburb of Shaker Heights and built the 52-story Terminal Tower. Architectural photographer and local history author Lauren R. Pacini tells the story of the remarkable rise and eventual fall of their empire through words and images. Books will be available for sale and signing at the event.
