Frank Enley (Van Heflin) and Joe Parkson (Robert Ryan) were best friends and served together during World War II. When they were captured by the Germans and spent time in a Nazi POW camp, something happened that changed their lives forever. Some years later the old wounds have not healed, and an angry confrontation becomes unavoidable. The horrors of war was an important factor in the evolution of film noir. Janet Leigh and Mary Astor also star. A discussion will follow the screening.
