The Crooked River Ragtime Orchestra chronicles the development of classic ragtime from its early roots in blues and folk music to Scott Joplin, “The King of Ragtime,” and his contemporaries. After ragtime, the quintet follows the musical landscape from early jazz (with Duke Ellington’s 1928 hit The Mooche) to the music publishers of Tin Pan Alley and the rise of songsters and pop music. With violin, viola, cello, mandolin and guitar, the Crooked River Ragtime Orchestra makes a historically accurate ragtime ensemble.
