On Dangerous Ground (1951)

Police detective Jim Wilson (Robert Ryan) is the type of cop you might expect to find in a film noir. He gets information with carefully parsed questions and carefully aimed fists. His boss decides to send him upstate to cool off, but his noirish tendencies follow him like a dark shadow. While investigating the death of a young girl, he ends up in a remote house where he encounters a blind woman (Ida Lupino). Lupino also directed part of the film when Director Ray was ill.
