For the Whole Family

Lakewood Public Library has been selected to be a part of the NASA initiative when the Webb Space Telescope launches this fall! The James Webb Space Telescope will be a large infrared telescope with a 6.5-meter primary mirror. The telescope will be launched from French Guiana on December 18, 2021. The Webb telescope will be the premier observatory of the next decade and will study every phase in the history of our universe. Go to https://www.jwst.nasa.gov/ to learn more.

On November 12,  2021, join Librarian Nic Starr as he builds anticipation and excitement about the launch by reading stories about outer space.

Henry’s Stars by David Elliot: “Henry the pig is excited to spot the Great Pig in the sky one starry night, but when he shows the other farm animals, he gets frustrated because they each see something different” – Publisher’s description.

How to Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers: “Eager to have a star of his own, a boy devises imaginative ways of catching one” – Publisher’s description.
