Summer of Space: Dunking the Planets

For Students Entering Fourth through Sixth Grade. Concepts of size, weight and mass are explored in this fun activity. Using models of the planets, students will dunk the “planets” in water to highlight that even a large, massive planet — such as Saturn — can have low density. Explore how a planet’s density is related to whether it is mainly made up of rock or gas. Registration is required.
