Film – Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956)

A difficult childhood gives Rocky Graziano (Paul Newman) a contempt for all authority figures. After joining a street gang, the law catches up to Rocky and he is sent to prison for his criminal behavior. Upon release he is drafted into the Army but immediately resists the regimented lifestyle and goes AWOL. Strapped for cash, he becomes a boxer to earn quick money, only to discover that he has a natural talent for fighting. His newfound success gives him the confidence he needs to pursue his love interest, Norma (Pier Angeli). Winner of Best Cinematography, this film continues our series of Oscar Award winners.
