Author Event – Cleveland A to Z
Cleveland A to Z: Historical Essentials for Newcomers and Residents in Northeastern Ohio. Book by Lauren R. Pacini.Cleveland A to Z was published in November 2017, in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Western Reserve Historical Society. It is a compendium of essays written by John Grabowski, PhD, with vintage images from the Historical Society archives, and contemporary images by Lauren Pacini. Pacini tells fascinating stories about Greater Cleveland, ranging from the Agora to the Zoo. Much of Pacinis work has been of nature, but he has felt compelled to tell the story of the industrial city. Much has changed since Pacini moved here as a child sixty years ago. The never-say-die spirit of its citizens who have not seen a baseball championship since 1948 or a football championship since 1964 leads Clevelanders to unshakable belief in next year. While Pacini is all too aware of the citys signs of death, he is driven to tell another story – one that celebrates its rich history, traditions and cultureone of hopeand signs of rebirth. Books will be available for sale and signing at this event.
